This is an unusual surreal image by Lartigue, perhaps the only such image in his ouvre. Lartigue was said to have a fixation on hands and fingernails. Only one other print is known and is in one of the albums that Lartigue gifted to the French State.Stamp "Coll. Renee Perle Lartigue" on print verso. Provenance: Estate of Renee Perle.See: Alex Novak, For the Love of the Image: A Selection of 110 Photographs, p.46, fig.49. This specific image is in Album 1931-2 volume on the Ministère de la Culture website archive of the albums of Lartigue.
