Titles printed top and bottom of the image on the mount.Apparently a very rare photograph taken during the expansion of Cherbourg harbor and taken a bit before the time that Le Gray took his celebrated seascapes of the fleet at Cherbourg. According to Ken Jacobson in his monograph on Le Gray, "Moulin showed several views of the Fete at the 1859 SFP exhibition though we have never seen extant examples of the original photographs."See: Jacobson, The Lovely Sea-View: A Study of the Marine Photographs Published by Gustave Le Gray, 1856-1858, p.19.
