About This Image
Signed, dated and location (\"h. Le Secq, Chartres. 1852\") reversed out of the negative in the lower left. Title written in pencil on verso. A very rare and important print (perhaps only one or two known as a salt print) for Le Secq\'s early work. Most such prints are in institutions. Very few are in private hands. See: Janis and Sartre, Henri Le Secq Photographie de 1850 a 1860, pl.270, p.137 (the copies there in Panotype, not salt prints). Provenance: probably from the collection of an art history professor; Porta Portese\'s antique market in Rome; an Italian conservationist.
